Hutchesons' Wine Dinners
Friday, August 14, 2015
Thank you to all our guests for making the first of our Hutchesons’ Wine Dinners such a rock star evening in our brasserie!
Tony Cloke, the European brand ambassador for Charles Smith, owned the room with his stories behind the wines and the brand’s rock and roll journey thus far. (Hands up if you're going to take a bottle of Chardonnay to your next dinner party?)
The kick-ass Kung Fu Girl – a 100% Washington State Riesling, was a clear favourite on the white front; she mesmerized everyone with her refreshingly fruity finish and powerful balance. Not to mention the pairing… buttermilk fried oyster, Vietnamese dressing, beetroot and hazelnut crumb – let’s just applaud our kitchen team.
As for reds who could resist that dark Velvet Devil? A complex merlot with a blend of subtle herbs and spice that just fired up the flavours in our Stornoway black pudding and twice cooked pork belly dish. Perfection - one of the favourite pairings of the evening!
Tony and to all the guests that joined us, thanks for making the evening incredible! Hope to see you at the next one!
