Launch of our Glenfarclas Private Dining Room
Wednesday, October 29, 2014
A-listed dining destination Hutchesons officially launched their Glenfarclas private dining and meeting room today (Wednesday, 29th October) with an exclusive unveiling of the full 45 Glenfarclas Family Cask vintages by the glass – a first for Glenfarclas in the UK, outside of Speyside.
Launched in 2007, The Family Casks is a unique collection of single casks whiskies, with at least one cask bottled for every year, from a rare Glenfarclas 1953, bottled in September 2012 after spending 58 years in the cask to one bottled in 1998. Ranging from £22.45 per dram, the Family Cask range of Glenfarclas is served throughout Hutchesons, and can be enjoyed in their café bar, restaurant or private dining space. The price varies depending on the rarity of the bottle, with each vintage having its own tasting notes and characteristics provided by George Grant of Glenfarclas in a leather bound display book.
Through an exclusive partnership with George Grant of award-winning Glenfarclas whisky – who are sixth generation family distillers based in Speyside, Hutchesons is ambassador for Glenfarclas in Glasgow and in doing so offer a unique space for whisky tastings, dinners and events in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre and Merchant city.
Situated on the third floor of Hutchesons, the Glenfarclas meeting and private dining room was fashioned by restaurateur owners, James and Louise Rusk with carpentry and bespoke joinery commissioned by Transition Interiors. Designed to keep the original character of the 200 year old building, this private room is a warm and intimate space with luscious dark panelled walls and decor providing the perfect backdrop to enjoy a family celebration or a private meeting with colleagues. Adorning the walls, homage is paid to the family distillery with old monochrome photography, alongside a four foot stag’s head.
Accommodating up to eighteen seated guests or thirty-five standing, the space is available to hire from breakfast through to dinner. Catering for both corporate and celebratory use, all specifications have been catered for with a 60” SMART TV with wifi and all AV and presentation equipment provided in the room, if required. The centrepiece is a long oak and mahogany table where you can dine and meet in style whether it’s coffees or relaxed dining you’re after.
Hutchesons – which is located in the beautifully restored Hutchesons’ Hall building on Ingram Street, opened in June this year after a two year transformation into a three floor dining venue by independent restaurateur James Rusk, who also owns The Butchershop Bar & Grill in the West End.
Speaking about the unique partnership, restaurateur and Glasgow Welcomes chairman James Rusk said: “George and I have been friends since childhood and this partnership marks a business collaboration between two Scottish independent companies. At Hutchesons we are committed to providing the finest produce in our dishes for our customers, sourcing the best beef from Ayrshire and in the Borders, down to seafood from Shetland and beyond, so the fact we have chosen to partnership with Glenfarclas who are renowned and skilled at making Scotch malt whisky at their distillery makes perfect business sense.
“It’s a real privilege to have all 45 vintages of these special Family Casks for our customers to experience right here at Hutchesons. Choosing to have a dram of Scotch malt whisky that was bottled in your year of birth is something very special and unique that our customers can now choose to mark that special occasion in our private dining space or restaurant.”
George Grant, Director of Sales at Glenfarclas, and sixth generation custodian for the Glenfarclas Distillery said:
“We are really excited about the partnership with Hutchesons and the launch of our private dining room – it’s a real first for us. We are both family businesses with similar brand values – delivering a premium product and our commitment to choosing the finest ingredients, so we’re confident that our partnership will be enjoyed by guests to Hutchesons in Glasgow.”
