HUTCHESONS UNCORKED SERIES

2019 WORLD VOYAGE:

NO 6: BODEGa ARGENTO

“Discover Argentina, a land of contrasts and extreme altitudes”

After a sell out Spy valley event, we are happy to release our 6th uncorked series wine tasting dinner. The event will also be introducing new wines to the already extensive wine list.

We invite you to join us in the timeless 158 Club Lounge on Wednesday 25th September as we explore a selection of award-winning wines from Bodega Argento with host, Pippa Townley from Bodega Argento of Blends Wine Estates

Enjoy a unique experience exploring a selection of emblematic wines from Bodega Argento, the largest organic producer of Mendoza, Argentina.  Expect a taste of a stunning terroir with unparalleled natural beauty.  A region filled up with sun-kissed vineyards and the snow-capped Andes mountains as backdrop.

Deeply rooted in the soils of Mendoza, crafted with the spirit of Argentina, and shared with the world, Argento embodies the essence of modern Argentina. They are very proud of their country’s winemaking heritage and the unique terroir of Mendoza, and we are dedicated to crafting wines that emphasize the hallmarks of the Argento style – fruit purity, vibrancy and elegance.

Our executive head chef Jean Paul Giraud has put together a special 5 course tasting menu for the evening, taking notes from each of the Bodega Argento wines and pairing them with locally sourced dishes to orchestrate some mind-blowing flavour combinations.

NO 5: SPY VALLEY

We invite you to join us in the timeless 158 Club Lounge on Wednesday 28th August as we explore a selection of award-winning wines from
Spy Valley with host, Tony Cloke.

Tony has been involved in the UK wine industry for 16 years, after moving here from his home town of Melbourne 20 years ago. In 2004 while working for Bibendum he met the Spy Valley family and started managing their UK business. In 2015 the family owned Marlborough winery then asked Tony to work for them directly and manage their European business based in the UK. Over the years, Tony has managed a number of leading international wineries in Europe, but he is now delighted to be working for a smaller Family owned business that produces superb wines from some of Marlborough’s best vineyards.

Located up the road from a US government listening post (hence the name), Spy Valley is one of Marlborough’s most acclaimed wineries. It’s no secret that Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is one of the world’s favourite wines, and this family-run winery is known for its textbook, terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc. But they don’t stop there, and chief winemaker Paul Bourgeois and his team are also experts in producing brilliant aromatic whites, including Riesling and Pinot Gris and exciting reds.

Our executive head chef Jean Paul Giraud has put together a special 5 course tasting menu for the evening, taking notes from each of the Spy Valley wines and pairing them with locally sourced dishes to orchestrate some mind-blowing flavour combinations.

Date: Wednesday 28th August 2019

Time: 7pm arrival (Dinner served 7:30)

Tickets: £50 pp

NO 4: JOURNEYS END

We are delighted to welcome Tom Hanson-Smith, UK, Europe and Americas brand manager for Journey’ s End to host the 4th instalment of our Uncorked Series. Among the long rolling south-facing slopes of the Stellenbosch winelands, caressed by cool coastal breezes, lies the boutique winery and vineyard, Journey’s End, one of the few solar powered wineries in South Africa.

With only a handful of premium, hand-crafted wines produced here, the focus is very much on quality. No more than 25,000 dozen bottles of estate wine are produced in a typical vintage – many of which regularly collect trophies on the international circuit. In fact, thanks to its sea-facing slopes, excellent soils and the exceptional wines emerging from the general area, the Schapenberg terroir has begun to draw comparison with the likes of Bordeaux.

We invite you to join us in the seductive 158 Club Lounge on Wednesday 29th May as we explore a selection of award-winning wines from Journey’s End. Our executive head chef Jean Paul Giraud has put together a special 5 course tasting menu for the evening, taking notes from each of the Journey’s End wines and pairing them with locally sourced dishes to orchestrate some mind-blowing flavour combinations.
